Further Reading

I’ll be using this page for two purposes primarily: The first will be to link to other writings of mine that have been circulated around the internet, and the second will be to link to articles and websites that I’ve found particularly useful or influential that may appeal to my readers. In either case, each link will be accompanied by a brief description of what you’ll expect to find by following it.

My Neopets Stories — I began writing for Neopets back in 2002 or 2003, but it wasn’t until 2006 that I got my first piece in. Since then, I’ve had more than thirty pieces published in the Neopian Times, Neopets’ weekly newspaper. It’s not necessary to have an extensive knowledge of the world of Neopets to understand my stories, so feel free to browse through them at your leisure. If you ever decide to join Neopets, you may do so by clicking here.

NaNoWriMo — Every November is National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo for short, when writers worldwide are challenged to write a novel of at least 50,000 words in one month. Hectic and nothing short of insane, NaNoWriMo is an awesome way to write fast-paced without letting any inner editors get in the way. My profile, featuring a yearly excerpt from my NaNoWriMo novels, can be found here.

Steven Strogatz on the Elements of Math — Featured as part of the New York Times’ Opinionator section, this series of fifteen articles by renown mathematician Steven Strogatz takes the abstract yet elegant world of mathematics and translates it into easy-to-understand concepts able to be grasped by anyone and everyone. As a math major, not only have I found his articles to be helpful in bringing a greater level of understanding to the math that I’m learning, they have made me love mathematics even more.

Judasim 101 — I was first told about Judaism 101 (also known as JewFAQ) while doing a research paper on Judaism, and since then I have relied on Judaism 101 for everything. For anyone wanting to know anything about Judaism–whether you’re just trying to find out what it’s all about or whether you’re a Jew trying to deepen your bond with your religion–this compendium of information is thorough, concise, and very easy to read. I recommend to everyone.

Jewish Mosaic — Jewish Mosaic, the National Center for Sexual and Gender Identity, is an organization whose aim is to help make Judaism more inclusive of the GLBT Jewish community and has extensive resources on both Judaism and homosexuality. You can read my drash (commentary) on my Bar Mitzvah portion, Parshat Naso, here.

North Carolina Community College Student Leadership Institute — I was encouraged to attend the SLI by other student leaders at my community college, and I am so thankful that I took their advice: The first week of this year long program is an intensive six days full of speakers, leadership training, and group work that prepares you to conduct two workshops at your college within the following academic year. I cannot sing praise of this program enough: It has truly given me the confidence and the ability to rise to my potential as a leader, both in school and beyond. In five words: It has changed my life.
